Marjorie Pak
Associate Teaching Professor
Prof. Pak received her B.A. in Comparative Literature (magna cum laude, 1994) from Yale University and her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania (2008), and taught at the University of Pennsylvania and Franklin and Marshall College before coming to Emory in 2008.
Prof. Pak's research interests are in syntactic theory, morphological theory, the syntax-phonology interface, and word-level phonology. She has worked first-hand on the understudied languages Huave, Luganda, and Logoori. Her recent research projects have focused on the analysis of grammatical tone in Logoori, the negation with 'embracing' morphemes in Logoori and other languages, the acquisition of negative questions, and the English a~an alternation.
