Professor Clarke was born and raised in Waycross, Georgia and received an A.B. in Spanish from the University of Georgia. After teaching in Salamanca and Madrid, Spain, she returned to the University of Georgia to study Spanish linguistics and received her M.A. in 1999. Professor Clarke has taught Spanish and English in high schools and colleges since 1991, at Emory since 2000 and currently serves as the department’s Director of the Spanish Language Program, and Director of Placement.
